vibedasher vs Evidence
Who Evidence is for
Evidence states its position as plainly as anyone in this category: "Define your entire BI platform as code in a repo." A page is a markdown file carrying SQL queries and components; authoring happens in "our editor or any coding agent"; deployment is git-native, with push to deploy, branch previews and instant rollback. Their platform targets "teams and agents", with an Analytics Agent that answers questions in plain language and is available "in Slack or any MCP client, including Claude Desktop and ChatGPT", plus embedding and white-labelling for product teams. Evidence Core is open source. Of the six tools on these pages, Evidence is the one whose worldview is closest to ours, and a reader who wants reports and narrative analysis reviewed through pull requests should probably stop reading here and go and try it.

| vibedasher | Evidence | |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes the dashboard | Your coding agent, as React components over SQL. We host that tree as a static, client-rendered bundle — React only, with none of your server code in the request path and no npm install at build time, because the libraries come from a pinned list. | You or your agent, as markdown files carrying SQL and Evidence components, rendered by their framework. |
| Hosting and governance | A URL behind your login, or an embed inside your product. Per-viewer row filters are the embed lane and only the embed lane — enforced server-side from a signed token. A dashboard you publish publicly is the other case: its credential-free data lane serves one Parquet extract per dataset and snapshot, so every visitor gets every row of it. | Their cloud platform with git integration; embedding and white-label with multi-tenant support for product teams. Check their docs for how row-level scoping is expressed. |
| MCP / agent control plane | An MCP server covering the whole loop: connect a source, push dashboard code, build, publish, schedule a refresh, eject. pip install vibedasher-mcp then vibedasher login. A refresh needs a dataset backed by a live connection — an uploaded file cannot be scheduled — and every cron is read in UTC. | Their Analytics Agent is reachable from Slack and from MCP clients including Claude Desktop and ChatGPT, extensible with context and skills kept in your repository. |
| Eject-to-code | Yes. React source in your repo, still querying our API. A real ejected dashboard runs on this site. | Arguably always ejected: the markdown is in your repo from the start. The framework that renders it is theirs. |
| Self-host | docker compose for one host, a Helm chart for Kubernetes, the same engine as the managed cloud. No production customer yet. | Evidence Core is open source and can be built and hosted yourself; the managed platform is theirs. Check their docs for the boundary. |
| Managed cloud region | Data plane in the European Union, Frankfurt. Sign-in identity — email address and account membership — is held in the United States for every account; there is no region selector. The self-hosted build keeps both in your network. | Their hosted platform — check their docs for regions. |
| Connectors | Warehouses, databases and SaaS sources, plus CSV and Excel upload. The count is on pricing; the full list, including what is not available yet, is in the documentation. | Sources their framework supports — see their documentation. |
| Licence | Proprietary, with a self-host option. | As of 2026-10-06, their licence file says: MIT for Evidence Core; the cloud platform is commercial. |
| Pricing model | See /pricing. | See their pricing page. |
Choose Evidence if
- Your reviewers live in pull requests and you want dashboards to move through the same gate as code, with branch previews and rollback.
- The output is narrative analysis and reporting as much as it is an interactive surface.
- A consistent authored format across a whole team is worth more to you than freedom in the presentation layer.
- An MIT-licensed core you can build yourself is a procurement requirement.
Choose vibedasher if
- The artifact your agent emits is React, and you want it hosted as it is rather than translated into a document format.
- It is going in front of your own paying customers as an embed, where per-viewer row filters are enforced server-side from a signed token rather than chosen in the client.
- You want the platform driven end to end from the terminal — source connected, dashboard published, refresh scheduled — rather than through a deploy pipeline.
- European residency or your own network is the constraint; see self-hosted BI.

Perguntas frequentes
- Evidence is already code in a repo. Is this not the same product?
- Same philosophy, different artifact, and that is the whole comparison. Evidence pages are markdown files carrying SQL and Evidence components, rendered by the Evidence framework — the repo is yours and the format is theirs. vibedasher hosts React components your agent wrote in whatever shape it wrote them, with no framework of ours in between. Which you prefer depends on whether you want a format that guarantees consistency or one that imposes only our hosting limits: client-rendered React, and libraries from a pinned list.
- Can a coding agent author Evidence pages?
- Yes, and they say so themselves: Evidence supports authoring via their editor or any coding agent, and their Analytics Agent is available in Slack and in MCP clients including Claude Desktop and ChatGPT. Anyone claiming an agent cannot drive Evidence has not read their site. The difference is not whether an agent can write the file; it is what the file has to be.
- What about git — branch previews, rollback?
- Evidence is stronger here and we will not pretend otherwise. Push to deploy, branch previews and instant rollback are first-class in their product. With vibedasher the dashboard code is a version in our store, published or not, and your repo is where it lives if you eject. If a git-native review workflow for dashboards is the requirement, start with them.
- What is each licensed under?
- Checked on 2026-10-06, from the licence file in their public repository. Evidence Core is open source under the MIT licence, per the licence file in their public repository, alongside a commercial cloud platform. vibedasher is proprietary, with a self-host option. Check their docs for which features sit on which side.
- When would you honestly send someone to Evidence?
- When the readers are internal, the output is reports and narrative analysis rather than an interactive product surface, and the team already lives in pull requests. When the dashboard has to go inside your application, per customer, with the rows filtered on the server, come back here.
